To-Be-Read Mountain

Here is my To-Be-Read Stack, so high it’s ready to fall over. I add to it faster than I take away from it. If you’ve read any of these books, let me know what you think (no spoilers, please!)

  1. I’ve read The Time Traveller’s Wife. I thought it was interesting, but it annoyed me. I can’t really pin down why but I was irritated by Henry. Still other people have raved about it.

I’ve also read Crossing to Safety, which is a fantastic read and I loved it.

I have Inheritance of Loss -it’s in my To-Be-Read Mountain too.

  2. BooksPlease, you are the first person I’ve ever heard say that Time Traveller’s Wife was annoying!! I’ve heard only good things. Several people in my book club have read it and highly recommend it. I’ll have to see what I think. There are plenty of books that lots of people like that I don’t!

I’m looking forward to Crossing to Safety. It was mentioned in a book called The Book Club Companion and sounded like something I would enjoy.

    Thanks for your comments!

  3. I enjoyed the time Traveler’s Wife. The title “The Inheritance of Loss” intrigues me.

  4. I really enjoyed Time Traveler’s Wife, but there was one thing near the end that peeved me. I’ll be interested to see if you pick up on the same thing.

I also recently read The History of Love and enjoyed it quite a bit as well. It was a bit confusing sometimes, but a quick read.

You should add to your list:

*Last Days of Summer by Steve Kluger – my all-time favorite book and one I recommend to everyone (I’ve never heard anyone say they didn’t like it after reading it)
*The Glass Castle by Jeanette Walls – I couldn’t put it down, but thankfully it isn’t long so I finished it quickly

  5. I loved The Time Traveler’s Wife. It’s one of my all time favorites. My mom couldn’t stand it and didn’t even finish it.

The History of Love didn’t do much for me.

The Inheritance of Loss is beautifully written…very descriptive. But short on story, in my opinion.

I haven’t read any of the others in your mountain.
