Put a bow on it, Santa!

Are you ready to do a little early Christmas shopping?  NO??  Me neither.  But- if you’ve thought about getting one of those new-fangled reading gadgets, The Kindle, a.k.a The iPod of the Book World, now may be a good time.

To promote its new rewards Visa credit card, Amazon is offering $100 off the Kindle now through September 8th, so you have to hurry.

“Amazon.com’s revolutionary wireless reading device now has more than 160,000 books plus top newspapers and blogs available and is more affordable than ever with this limited time offer from Chase,” says an e-mail Amazon recently sent to its associate partners.

The Kindle sells for $359 — making the savings a 28 percent discount.

Says Amazon on its Kindle site, “Thanks to Chase, you get $100 off Kindle when you get the new Amazon.com Rewards Visa Card. Limited time only.”

Chase has a page dedicated to the new Amazon Visa card here.

Bookbabie Breaking Through

We have an author in our midst (well, on my blogroll, anyway)!  Lilli Jolgren Day, aka bookbabie, has a really cool blog.  She is a photographer, but her photographs look more like paintings.  She is truly an artist.  Trust me, you just have to go look.  Click HERE to visit her gallery on her website.  Gorgeous, right?  She is also an author who is currently writing her 3rd novel, and she is my kind of author, meaning she writes the way I imagine she talks; unpretentious, honest, real. Reading her blog is like sitting with a friend.  I just really like her style.

One of her novels, entitled The Wonder of Ordinary Magic, was chosen from among 5000 entries to be a semifinalist in the Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award contest.   Can you imagine.. amazondotfreakingcom???  This could be IT for her!  The. Big. Break. I’m guessing amazon.com can do for an author what American Idol can do for a singer.. pluck them from obscurity and hurl them into the limelight. Bookbabie, get ready to be hurled!

If you’ve got a few minutes, click on the link above and check out her book.  You download an excerpt for free, and if you like it, write a review and rate it (that is your vote). Voting is open until March 2nd, and the winner will be announced April 7th.  I hope I’ve inspired you to support a fellow blogger and aspiring author, and give bookbabie some love!
